The Living Barefoot Show in Mp3 format – What do you think?

The Living Barefoot Show is currently broadcasted through iTunes as a native m4a file.  This apple format allows for apple device-specific options such as chapters, in-show URLs, and images that display product and hosts during the show.

While these features are very nice, we suspect that few listeners are aware of the extra features. We suspect even fewer actually use them.

As we are upgrading the way these files are available for playback and download from our site, we are looking for the best ways to share our show with as many listeners as possible.  By moving to an mp3 only format we simplify our production process and we open the door to better and more flexible ways to present our material.  While the show will still be available through iTunes, it will also be available through other automatic RSS readers for those listeners who choose to use hardware and software that isn’t compatible with the Apple format.

As we are concerned that we may be removing features from a larger group of listeners than anticipated, we wanted to give you the opportunity to make your voice heard on the issue.  Should you feel strongly for or against this change please let us know.  You can contact us through facebook, through twitter, through our feedback line (1-888-868-2198) or through email (showideas@livingbarefoot.info).

  1. I personally don’t use iTunes, so mp3 is the way to go for me. It is too bad that there isn’t (maybe there is) a one click solution to this.

  2. Hi Lyle,

Thanks for your input. A one-click solution is exactly what we are after. Moving to Mp3 files would allow us not only to stream the podcasts more easily right from out site, but also to allow subscription links for mp3 files for those people who use alternatives to iTunes. Currently mp3 files need to be downloaded separately from out site. Once we move to mp3 files subscriptions can be made to our feed.
