  • How to respond to comments and questions made by the public
  • Strike patterns - how do they differ between barefooters and minimalist shoe wearers
  • Defining the work “minimalist”.  What are the benefits and difficulties of creating a standard definition.  Is the loose use of the word “barefoot” causing problems?

About Living Barefoot Reviews:

As you read our reviews, please keep in mind that our reviewers review shoes in terms of their suitability for those looking to find the highest quality minimalist shoe products. All reviews are as factual as possible. In an effort to be transparent and ethical, we will point out any defects found, even if these do not affect the usability of the product. Not all defects will be present in final production shoes as we are sometimes offered “seconds” or pre-release products in an effort to provide you with reviews in a timely manor. In the event that serious issues are found with a review sample we will give every opportunity for the manufacturer to replace to explain the review samples before the final review is released. We never accept payments for reviews. We do not guarantee a good review for any products sent to us. We do not review products that do not claim to be minimalist or “barefoot like” unless we receive a significant number of requests from readers or listeners.

Should you have any questions about our review process or would like your product reviewed on our site, please do not hesitate to contact us using our contact page.

  1. I’ve been a listener since way back when, and I wanted to say that I think the casual conversational style of the “Banter” podcasts is much more to my liking than the scripted-sounding interview format. Thanks so much for moving at least partly in this direction.

I also wanted to offer my own perspective on “transitional” (i.e. not quite minimalist) shoes. I think that they offer an option for people who are not currently dealing with injuries and who do not want to sacrifice their higher running mileage to the transition. I didn’t go the “transitional” route, but I think it might have been a good step the (snowy, Canadian) winter before I actually shucked off my shoes.

  2. Hi Miranda,

Thank you for your feedback! We have a lot of fun making those shows and are really glad to hear your feedback. Would you do us the huge honor if calling our Toll Free feedback line and recording a quick response that we might be able to use in our show? +1 877 888 3518 You could even talk about your transition process if you like. Thanks for the feedback – never hesitate to send us your thoughts and suggestions!

  3. I love your podcasts. Living Barefoot has been a real companion as I have embarked on this seriously minority activity. It’s great to hear all kinds of people from all walks of life (pun not intended) bring their experience and perspectives to the show. I get a new nugget every time I listen. It also helps that you sound like you’re having a blast while doing it.

I have a couple of suggestions for future shows. How about focusing on geographical regions (such as the UK)? Maybe it could help people connect with others in the same area or even foster more international links. If nothing else, it’s good to get advice appropriate to your climate, terrain and culture. The other topic that I haven’t noticed in your shows is ChiRunning (TM). It would be interesting to compare and contrast Danny Dreyer’s methods with the POSE technique.

Keep up the good work – and upload another show SOON!

  4. Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your comments. It’s great to hear that you are enjoying our show. We do love putting together the show – I’m glad it shows! Your suggestions of geographical regions is a great idea. As you probably know we do interview guests from all over the world, but generally these are on topics that are not geographically specific. Do you know anyone in the UK who you feel would make a good guest?

Thank you also for your suggestion to compare ChiRunning with POSE. This has been something we have been debating for some time. There are some personal reasons we have not yet done that but we’ll continue to keep that on the list for when the time is right.

Never hesitate to give us your feedback or your ideas!

    Kind Regards,

    Al

  5. Al,

I said I wanted to hear another Living Barefoot Show “soon” and you uploaded one the same day. Can’t say fairer than that :-)

I don’t know anyone who strikes me as a potential guest for a show focusing on the UK, though that could change.

    Regards,

    Steve

For anyone reading this who knows of a potential english-speaking guest who lives anywhere in the world who can share a location-specific perspective on barefooting, please contact us through our toll-free number or our contact page.

    Cheers,
