Angelababy Fuels Divorce Rumours Again With Emo Posts (And A Missing Engagement Ring)
Does a day go by where people don't speculate on whether the star and her hubby are headed for Splitsville?
For a married celebrity, one of the surest ways to get people talking about you is to be spotted without your wedding band (see: Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo prior to their divorce).
But the absence of Mrs Huang Xiaoming Angelababy's engagement ring from her finger has become a matter of concern for netizens... and not just because the six-carat, $2.2mil Chaumet diamond stunner is hard to miss.
Last night (Jul 17), the 30-year-old attended the launch of a Dior exhibition in Shanghai, and a few eagle-eyed netizens pointed out that this massive sparkler had been conspicuously replaced by a smaller ring.
This probably wouldn’t have been as big of a deal — who would wear such a gigantic thing all the time? — if not for the fact that Angelababy and Xiaoming, who tied the knot in 2015 and have a two-year-old son together, have been plagued with nasty divorce rumours lately.
The rumours have gotten so bad that earlier this month, Xiaoming threatened to take legal action against anyone who continues to make such baseless claims.
To make matters worse, Angelababy had updated her Weibo page with a rather emo post late at night on July 16. She had uploaded three images of inspirational quotes that seem to subtly imply some that there's some turbulence in her life. Either that, or she suddenly felt like treating her 100 million followers with some Chicken Soup for the Soul.
“You live. You learn. You upgrade”, reads the only English quote. The other two talk about how one should “learn to be grateful when you meet someone who loves you”... among other things.
The pictures were accompanied by a caption which, when roughly translated, says, “Recently I feel like I’m not in sync with the rest of the world, but everything is fine, don’t worry about me.”
Before long, the comments section swelled with messages of concern and encouragement, with one long-time follower even remarking that she has never seen such an emotional post on Angelababy’s feed before.
Needless to say, those pesky divorce rumours reared their ugly heads again.
However, Angelababy put her fans' worries to rest at the Dior event, reassuring everyone that she’s “actually quite happy” — a claim that she backed with her ever-radiant smile.
We guess that’s that, then.
