Chinese Acting Coach Says Angelababy's Acting Is "Most Embarrassing"
She apparently only uses one look to convey different emotions.
Angelababy’s acting has been widely criticised for as long as she's been an actress with many saying that the 32-year-old, who got her start as a model, has not improved at all over the past decade.
The latest person to pan Angelababy's acting is acting coach You Sihan. The 40-year-old is also a drama producer and the daughter of veteran actor You Benchang, who is best known for his work in 1986 drama Ji Gong.
In a video uploaded on September 17, Sihan named Angelababy as the actress with the most embarrassing acting skills .
She used clips from Angelababy's shows to illustrate her point, adding that the latter's co-stars like Huang Xuan and Zhu Yilong must have had a hard time acting opposite her.
Sihan said the actress employs a wide-eyed expression for every emotion, be it sad, happy, shocked or angry, and she called the look the infamous and miraculous stare .
Sihan also talked about why some good actors perform poorly in certain dramas, and used Wu Jinyan, 31, as an example.
According to Sihan, the Story of Yanxi Palace star most likely “did not properly research the script and rushed straight into acting just to earn money”.
She also used screenshots of Jinyan in dramas Fighting Youth and My Bargain Queen to point out that the actress would just stare and frown during her crying scenes.
Sihan also said Hongkong singer-actor William Chan really needs to step up too.
In one drama, he was supposed to be really heartbroken because he lost his lover but Sihan said William looked more like a person who had his foot stepped on instead.
Ouch.
