Chinese Host Wang Han Criticised For Refusing To Use A Transparent Umbrella 'Cos He Finds It “Too Feminine”

His remarks were called “inappropriate” and “disrespectful to women”.

Popular Chinese host Wang Han had netizens raining down on him after an episode of his reality show In A Store Of Hope.

The series, which is currently airing on Hunan TV, features hosts Wang Han, Yang Di, and Shen Meng Chen running a convenience store in a Hunan village.

In an episode that aired last week, Wang Han and Yang Di had to deliver packages to residents. As it was raining, they were given umbrellas.

When Wang Han was handed a transparent umbrella, he said: “I really don't like this sort of umbrella. Sometimes I would rather get wet in the rain than to use this. It is too feminine.”

True to his word, he did not use the brolly, only holding on to it as they went about their errands.

    Those who found his comment “inappropriate” also questioned what the host meant about such umbrellas being feminine.
