Ex Actress Chen Chen, Who Went MIA With Son, Said To Have Gone Overseas To Avoid People Asking To Borrow Money From Them
Former Taiwanese screen goddess Chen Chen, 74, and her son, singer Jeremy Liu, 36, got family and friends worried when they reportedly went MIA for more than 40 days.
According to a netizen who claimed to be friends with Chen Chen, the pair went to Beijing to deal with some personal affairs, but have been uncontactable since August 21.
They were last seen at a hotel in the Chaoyang district of Beijing.
The netizen took to social media to appeal for information on their whereabouts and urged anyone with updates to contact the media or police.
Friends and family have not been able to reach Chen Chen and her son Jeremy Liu for more tha 40 days.
Yesterday (Oct 6), a close friend of Chen Chen’s shared updates on the pair, saying they are not missing.
She told United Daily News that mother and son are travelling around Europe and the United States, and are safe.
She added that Chen Chen had decided to stay low key as a lot of people have been approaching her to borrow money.
While she would usually oblige, it has become out of control, with some asking for “tens of millions of dollars”. So, she and Jeremy decided to leave Taiwan for a while.

However, there are also rumours that Chen Chen is currently in Beijing, locked in a lawsuit with her ex-husband, acclaimed Taiwanese songwriter Liu Chia Chang, 82, who is fighting for his rights to property worth millions of dollars.
Chen Chen and Chia Chang divorced in 1987 after nine years of marriage, when Jeremy was just one.
For Jeremy’s sake, they kept their divorce a secret and maintained the image of a blissfully married couple for more than two decades.
Chia Chang and Chen Chen are said to own “more than $1 billion” worth of property, which are all in the latter’s name. But she cut him off in 2012.
Over the years, Chia Chang has filed lawsuits in Hong Kong and the US to claim his share of the property but to no avail.
And now there is speculation they are in court in Beijing battling for a hotel in Jiangxi.

When contacted, Jeremy’s manger said that mother and son have been in Beijing for a while and are busy sorting out some personal affairs. It is unclear when they will return to Taiwan.
Other media who contacted Chen Chen’s assistant in Hong Kong were told the star “is fine” and declined to comment on her personal matters.
