Netizens Can’t Believe Aarif Rahman & His Older Sister Are Related ‘Cos They “Look Nothing Alike”

Hongkong singer-actor Aarif Rahman started gaining popularity in China after starring alongside Fan Bingbing in 2014’s The Empress of China and has mostly been based there for work in recent years.

The 34-year-old, who is of Malay, Arab, and Chinese heritage, quickly gained attention upon his showbiz debut for his good looks and was even dubbed “Little Wang Leehom” due to their resemblance (scandal or no scandal, that’s quite a compliment).

Oh, and he’s got a hot bod too

Earlier this month, Aarif posted a photo of himself having reunion dinner with his family back in Hongkong for the first time in two years.

“It’s been a while since I’ve had my mum’s cooking,” he wrote.

In the photo too are his mother and older sister, who quickly got people talking — although it wasn’t for the most flattering reasons.

Netizens and the media were quick to point out that the siblings hardly look like siblings at all, with more cruel remarks focusing on the sister’s “mediocre” appearance (yikes).

Other comments include: “Are they biologically related?”, “They look nothing alike, did they pick the wrong baby?”, “It’s rare to see siblings who don’t look anything like each other”, and “Could he be more closely related to Wang Leehom?”.

As it turns out, Aarif’s parents got married after already having children from previous relationships, so he and his sister — or more specifically, half-sister — have the same mother, but different fathers.

He also has a half-brother from his dad’s side who doesn’t look much like him, but despite their supposed differences, all three siblings are said to be very close.

So we don’t think Aarif would be happy with how folks are talking about his family like that
