Netizens Worry About Singaporean TVB Actress Eileen Yeow’s Health After She Posts New Selfie

Singaporean TVB artiste Eileen Yeow has sparked concerns about her health after posting her latest selfie… or could netizens be overreacting again as usual?

On Monday (Dec 6), the Hongkong-based actress, who turns 50 in January, shared a post on her socials promoting a Christmas gift set consisting of cookies and art tools. Proceeds from the sales of the items will go to a charity that helps disadvantaged children.

However, it was her appearance that got people talking instead.

Reports described Eileen as having “sunken cheeks”, “neck lines that can still be seen under the filter”, and just looking “quite haggard” in general — a far cry from how her more glowy appearance in her earlier selfies.

Her followers certainly noticed the difference as well, with many comments pointing out her apparent weight loss. While some called her pretty, others found her to be too thin and worried about her health, with one remarking that she looks “old”.

Unnecessary age-shaming aside, we do hope that Eileen is taking good care of herself.

Like many other actresses in Hongkong, Eileen joined showbiz after winning a beauty pageant, except instead of Miss Hong Kong, she was crowned Miss Singapore Universe in 1991.

She then went on to represent Singapore in the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas, where Hongkong actress Anita Yuen was also a contestant. The two became friends and it was actually Anita who convinced Eileen to enrol in TVB’s artiste training class in 1995.

After graduating from the course, Eileen joined the station and was named as one of their Five Fresh Beauties. Although she’s never had a leading role, she’s had no shortage of work, appearing in plenty of dramas including A Kindred Spirit, A Step into the Past, and more recently, Come Home Love: Lo and Behold.

In 2011, Eileen and her boyfriend, who is not in showbiz, welcomed their son Evan. She has said that she does not intend to get married.
