Sunny Wang 'Conquered' His Fear Of Tarantulas For His 1-Year-Old Daughter

First, we had Myolie Wu, who gamely organised a party filled with little critters for her son. Now, we have Sunny Wang, 39, who managed to conquer his fear of tarantulas for his daughter.

It seems like his one-year-old kid, Katiya, really, really loves insects. And as it turns out, the Taiwanese-American actor really, really doesn't - well, at least certain creepy crawlies anyway.

That's one huge tarantula.

"I’ve never been scared of insects or bugs, but big hairy spiders scare the hell out of me. Gives me the creeps,” he shared on Instagram earlier this week.

However, Sunny wanted to set a good example for Katiya. Or well, in the actor’s words, he "can’t lose face for Katiya and have her think Daddy is weak sauce”.

So, when they visited an insect museum recently, Sunny decided to face his fear, once and for all.

Seriously.

"When we got to the tarantula section, I got scared, but I noticed Dizzy and Katiya weren’t afraid. They even touched and held the tarantulas,” Sunny wrote. Dizzy is the stage name for Sunny’s wife, Taiwanese-Australian singer Dominique Choy, 36.

Therefore, when his turn finally came, Sunny realised that he needed to be a good sport too.

“So after a very very long time, I finally convinced myself and gathered enough courage to put the tarantula on my hand. I realised the spider was actually more scared of me. After I put it down, I was relieved, and it felt amazing. It was as if I could accomplish anything,” he wrote.

Papa's got her back.

And of course, after this whole experience, Sunny walked away with a very important lesson learnt.

“This is what I wanted to share with you all. It’s never too late to face your fears,” he wrote.
