TVB Actor Owen Cheung Put On 18kg, Then Worked Out Like Crazy For 9 Months To Get The Perfect Bod For His New Drama
Now that's what we call dedication.
TVB actor Owen Cheung, 34, went through an amazing physical transformation to play a boxer in upcoming drama The Ringmaster.
The 34-year-old recently hared pics from his year-long fitness journey, which first saw him put on 18kg.
Owen started his metamorphosis by going down the ‘dirty bulking’ route, where he ate five meals a day, most of which consisted of beef and rice.
After that, he’s said to have switched to eating mainly steamed chicken and fish. He also cut out salt, oil, sugar and starch entirely.
For a period of time, he boosted his protein intake by eating 20 to 30 egg whites a day.
Of course eating clean wasn't enough. Owen also spent nine months working out three to four hours daily with his exercise regimen consisting of running, lifting weights and boxing.
Three days before shooting his shirtless scenes, Owen ate only white rice as the starch would make his muscles swell up.
And judging by the pics, it's clear that Owen's hard work and dedication to the role has paid off.
