Wong Cho Lam Says TVB Will Work More Closely With China This Year 'Cos It's The 25th Anniversary Of The Hongkong Handover

Rumour has it that Wong Cho Lam, who is TVB's Chief Creative Officer, is at odds with TVB execs Virginia Lok and Catherine Tsang.

It's said that to escape the infighting, the 42-year-old has turned his focus to helping artistes further their careers in China and is now there with Vincent Wong, Owen Cheung and Samantha Ko.

In an interview with Chinese media, Cho Lam shared that he's currently on a business trip and is "busy working on a few TVB shows and collaborating with Chinese platforms".

He confirmed that they will be taking a "multi-pronged approach", which includes music, acting, live streaming, variety shows and advertorials.

Cho Lam said, "It's hard to describe what life has been like in a few words. I'm very grateful to TVB for giving me the opportunities to try new things (…) We've cooperated with Chinese platforms for years and we'll be doing more of that this year as it's the 25th anniversary of Hongkong's return to China."

He also shot down talk of him leaving the broadcaster and poaching artistes over to sign with Chinese companies, maintaining that he's doing the legwork in the mainland in order to better negotiate deals for TVB.

Throughout his interview, Cho Lam avoided talking about the rumoured discord between him, Catherine and Virginia, and that did nothing to squelch the allegations.

It's said that Cho Lam fell out with the execs after he lobbied for Linda Chung to win Best Actress at the TVB Anniversary Awards for her role in Kids’ Lives Matter, but was vetoed by Virginia and Catherine.
