Xavier Ong Posted Something About Starting An OnlyFans Account, But It’s Not What You Think It Is

One might know of OnlyFans, the subscription-based social media platform as more of a NSFW destination, especially after Singaporean Titus Low was charged for uploading obscene content on the online platform.

So when Xavier Ong shared an Instagram Story about following his “OnlyFans account”, 8days.sg was, um, understandably concerned about what that might entail.

After we sent the 27-year-old a DM on Instagram, he clarified that contrary to his risqué IG story, the clickthrough link was directed to the FaceBook account of his livestreaming platform City Boy. City Boy is the brand Xavier set up in January after parting ways acrimoniously with his former employer Sibay Shiok.

8 DAYS: Since the clickthrough link leads to City Boy’s Facebook account, why is there an OnlyFans account that’s registered under ‘ongxavier’?

XAVIER ONG: (Laughs) it was an account I created donkey years ago when OnlyFans was "recruiting" people to join.. [That was when I] innocently thought that it’s just a site for people to [share] paid content.

Did the clickbait IG story work?

[There were] a lot of click throughs for sure, but also a lot of people texting me asking what I was thinking (laughs).

How did you respond to them?

"Did you even click on the link?" (Chuckles)

Did sales on City Boy increase because of your post?

There was an increase in followers but I can’t really gauge the effect on sales because it’s very difficult to do that when we sell different products every day.

Just to be clear, do you have any plans to be a creator on OnlyFans?

No lah, I don’t even have a subscribe button on my page! Everyone can have an OF account, and the difference is whether it’s a user account or creator account. Mine is just a user account (laughs) And no, there're no plans at all [to start a creator account in] the future either.

Did you get any negative reactions from your post?

(Laughs) No leh, everyone were either shocked like "Wtf?!" or like "Omg you did it", then I just reply [them with] "Did u even click the link?", then everyone laughed [about it].

What do you have to say to detractors who think it was in poor taste?

I mean the most you can say is that it's a clickbait lah but it's completely out of fun and no one was harmed in the process. They just… end up on City Boy where they can get good deals, good service and quality products. City Boy and I are here to bring entertainment and so far my followers were pretty entertained to realise that the link led them to City Boy.

How have things been since you started the City Boy page in January?

It’s been great! Like, it’s been awesome since day one. People who joined [after the Sibay Shiok saga broke] said [they found us] ‘cos of the saga but my replies are pretty standard about that lah – the issue may have increased the number of eyeballs for us but if the products and services we provided were not up to standard, people wouldn't spend and people wouldn't stay.

Have there been any updates to the Sibay Shiok saga?

To be honest, I don't feel that there’s anything unresolved. I came out to say my piece and I've said I've decided to forgo the money. I've really left everything behind and really shifted all my focus to building City Boy and I think it has been amazing so far. I’m glad that I made that choice ‘cos now, all my energies are focused on City Boy and our expansion plans.

Even my business partner and members of the team saw a difference. After the issue became public and the news died down, I was always smiling and forever happy.

It's a very nice feeling… like I put down a huge rock after carrying it for ages. Every day I open my eyes and my brain just starts working on what's next for City Boy.
