Jack Neo's upcoming movie I Not Stupid 3 finally has a release date. The follow-up instalment to Jack's hit franchise will be landing in Singapore theatres on Jun 6 – roughly 13 months after casting calls.
I Not Stupid 3's release date was announced on Monday (May 6) in a music video uploaded on production company MM2 Entertainment's social media pages.
The music video features an updated rendition of I Not Stupid's theme song Useful Person, interspersed with scenes from I Not Stupid 3. Viewers are also treated to a glimpse of Glenn Yong who plays a teacher in the new movie.
The movie stars Yuchen Zhou, Wee-Ann Goh, Songheng Jiang and Zhiyang Huang as the new group of primary school children facing school troubles. Returning for the movie are Richard Low and Selena Tan who previously starred as the parents of one of the main characters in the original I Not Stupid.
The music video for I Not Stupid 3 has invoked nostalgia among fans, with comments pouring in even from Singaporean celebrities such as Mark Lee who wrote: "I'm looking forward (to the movie)."
The first I Not Stupid movie was released in 2002 and earned over S$3.8 million – becoming one of Singapore's highest-grossing movies. A sequel, titled I Not Stupid Too, was released in 2006 featuring most of the original cast members portraying new roles.
